Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 15

20 oz. (566 g) yellow noodles
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
water, for boiling the noodles
1 stick (4 oz. /110 g/ 1/2 cup) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons minced garlic or more to taste
1 tablespoon Maggie seasoning sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1 Dungeness Crab, about 2 lbs. (800 g)
1 stick unsalted butter, 8 tablespoons
3-4 cloves garlic (chopped coarsely)
2 teaspoons chicken bouillon powder
2 teaspoons black pepper (cracked using a mortar and pestle)
1/4 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Rinse the yellow noodles with running water to discard the oil from the noodles. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat up a pot of water until boiling. Add the noodles into the boiling water and cook the noodles. Do not overcook as the noodles will turn soggy. Transfer the noodles out and drain dry.
  • Prepare the garlic sauce using a saute pan on medium to low heat. Add the butter into the pan and when it melts, add the garlic and saute until aromatic but not browned. Add all the seasonings into the pan, stir to combine well. Transfer the garlic sauce into a small bowl.
  • To serve, just toss all the noodles with the garlic sauce. Add the cheese, toss to combine well. Serve immediately.
  • Clean and chop the crab into small pieces. Heat up the butter in a wok (between medium to low heat) and saute the garlic until aromatic, but not brown. Add in the black peppers, chicken bouillon powder, and then add in the crab and stir well. Add in the sugar and cook the crab until half done.
  • Dish out and bake it in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes. Serve hot with garlic noodles.

Crustacean restaurants in CA are famous for their garlicky roasted crab, which is a highly guarded secret recipe. This recipe is a great substitute. I especially like to make it on a cold day, and it ranks high on my all-time favorite recipes list.

Crab Legs with Garlic Butter Sauce image

I ended up getting some snow crab legs on sale at the market. I wanted something a little different from plain steamed, boiled, or grilled crab legs, so I ended up throwing a few things together to make this awesome crab leg dish. Enjoy! This would be great with shrimp as well.

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h20m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 Dungeness crabs, about 1 1/4 pounds each, cooked, cleaned, and cracked
3 cups extra-virgin olive oil
20 garlic cloves, finely minced
Gray salt and freshly ground pepper
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 cup finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
8 (#10) tin cans, lined with newspaper

Steps:

  • Cleaning dungeness crab:
  • Holding the body backside up, place your right thumb in the joint between the upper and lower shell on the side opposite the mouth. Your palm will be stretched across the top of the shell. Hold the bottom of the crab in your opposite hand. Force your thumb in and pull up and back to your right until shell snaps off. Pour any juices in the shell into a small bowl. Cut the body into quarters with a large knife. Twist the legs off the body. Crack lightly in several places with a nutcracker and set aside.
  • Heat the olive oil in a very large ovenproof saute pan over medium-high heat until hot. (You may need 2 pans.) Add the crab and garlic, and toss well. Saute for about 10 minutes. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper and mix in lemon juice. Saute for another 5 minutes, then add parsley. After another 1 or 2 minutes, remove the crab and serve in the newspaper lined cans.

GARLIC CRAB

Garlic Crab image

This is a simi difficult recipe, but the result is ever so delectable. I had something like this at Crustaceans in San Francisco. They used the wonderful Dungeness crabs, but here in Virginia I had to settle for Blue crabs, which turned out just as nice.

Categories     Crab

Time 1h20m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

8 crabs, cleaned and cracked
1 whole bulb of garlic, finely chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 -2 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
chopped parsley
lemon slice

Steps:

  • Place garlic, onions, butter, salt, red and black pepper into a roasting pan and put into a 450 degree oven.
  • Be sure to watch carefully and cook until onions and garlic turn golden brown.
  • Remove from oven, add crab and blend thoroughly.
  • Make sure the crab (shells and all) is coated.
  • Place pan back into oven on 475 degree for 15-20 minutes, turning crab about every 5 minutes.
  • After the crab has been heated throughout remove from oven.
  • Garlic sauce should be braised onto the shell of the crab.
  • Serve as soon as possible, sprinkled with parsley and garnished with lemon.

Tips:

  • Choose the right crab: Use fresh, live crabs for the best flavor and texture. Look for crabs that are heavy for their size and have a bright, orange-red color.
  • Prepare the crab properly: Clean the crabs thoroughly before cooking. Remove the gills, mouthparts, and intestines. Cut the crab in half lengthwise or into quarters, depending on the size of the crab.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: Marinate the crab in a mixture of garlic, ginger, turmeric, red chili powder, and yogurt for at least 30 minutes. This will help to infuse the crab with flavor and make it more tender.
  • Cook the crab over high heat: Cook the crab in a hot pan or wok over high heat. This will help to sear the crab and prevent it from becoming tough.
  • Add plenty of garlic: Garlic is the star of this dish, so don't be shy about adding it. Use a combination of whole garlic cloves and minced garlic for the best flavor.
  • Serve with rice or bread: This dish is traditionally served with rice or bread. The rice or bread can be used to soak up the delicious sauce.

Conclusion:

This Trishna-inspired garlic crab is a delicious and easy-to-make seafood dish. The crab is cooked in a flavorful marinade and then stir-fried with garlic, ginger, and red chili peppers. The result is a dish that is packed with flavor and sure to please everyone at the table. Serve it with rice or bread for a complete meal.
