TREVOR'S CHEX PARTY MIX

Trevor's Chex Party Mix image

We worked years to perfect the seasonings as most mixes were too salty for our taste. We laugh everytime we make it as the dogs go crazy. They know I have mixing issues (it goes all over), so it's like Pavlovs dogs every 15 minutes while it's cooking! Everyone goes racing into the kitchen! YIKES!!

Time 1h10m

Yield 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 cups Corn Chex
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup pretzel
1 cup bite-size garlic bagel chips or 1 cup regular-size bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 250 degrees.
  • Melt butter in large roasting pan in oven. Stir in seasonings. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated.
  • Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

Tips:

  • Use a large mixing bowl to ensure that there is enough space to toss and coat the Chex cereal evenly.
  • Make sure to measure the butter correctly, as too much butter can make the Chex mix soggy.
  • If you don't have Worcestershire sauce, you can substitute soy sauce or tamari.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of seasonings to your taste. You can add more garlic powder, onion powder, or chili powder if you like a more flavorful Chex mix.
  • Be careful not to overcook the Chex mix, as it can become hard and crunchy.
  • Store the Chex mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Trevor's Chex Party Mix is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up leftover Chex cereal, and it is also a crowd-pleaser. With its sweet and salty flavor, this Chex mix is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
