Number Of Ingredients 7

3 1/2 cups Cooked Dried Chickpeas, or two 15.5 oz cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 clove garlic, smashed
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons tahini paste
1 teaspoon coarse salt
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup olive oil

Steps:

  • In bowl of food processor combine chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice, tahini, and salt. Pulse to a thick paste. With motor running, slowly add water, then oil, in a slow stream. Taste and add more salt if needed.

Tips for Making Perfect Hummus:

  • Use dried chickpeas for the best flavor and texture. Soaking them overnight or for at least 8 hours will soften them and make them easier to cook.
  • Cook the chickpeas until they are very soft, but not mushy. This will take about 1-2 hours.
  • Use a food processor or high-powered blender to get the smoothest hummus. Be sure to process it until it is completely smooth, with no lumps.
  • Season the hummus to your taste. You can add more lemon juice, tahini, garlic, or cumin to taste.
  • Serve the hummus with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of paprika or cumin. You can also serve it with pita bread, vegetables, or crackers.

Conclusion:

Hummus is a delicious and versatile dip that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It is a great way to use up leftover chickpeas, and it is also a healthy and affordable snack or appetizer. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make delicious hummus at home that is sure to impress your friends and family.
