Time 25m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb lean ground beef
1 (19 ounce) can Italian stewed tomatoes (could use 28 oz. if you added more parm. cheese)
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 minced garlic clove (I actually use 2)
1/4-1/2 cup parmesan cheese (I probably use more but I am a cheese fiend)
3 cups macaroni (before cooked, you could probably mess around with that amount as I am just estimating, I just pour)

Steps:

  • Fry ground beef in large size frying pan until almost all red is gone.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic and continue frying until beef is completely cooked.
  • Add the tomatoes and parmesan cheese and stir completely.
  • Lower heat and simmer while you cook the macaroni (about 20 minutes).
  • When macaroni is done, just mix it all together and serve.
  • Have your spouse clean up the mess cuz really, who needs the grief.

Time 1h20m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 pounds lean ground beef
2 large yellow onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
3 cups water
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons dried Italian herb seasoning
3 bay leaves
1 tablespoon seasoned salt, or to taste
2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni

Steps:

  • Cook and stir the ground beef in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat, breaking the meat up as it cooks, until the meat is no longer pink and has started to brown, about 10 minutes. Skim off excess fat, and stir in the onions and garlic. Cook and stir the meat mixture until the onions are translucent, about 10 more minutes.
  • Stir water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and seasoned salt into the meat mixture and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir macaroni into the mixture, cover, and simmer over low heat until the pasta is tender, about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, discard bay leaves, and serve.

VINTAGE HAMBURGER GOULASH

Categories     Meat

Time 30m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb ground beef, browned
2 onions, large chopped
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 (16 ounce) bag elbow macaroni
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon garlic salt (I use Lawry's)
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder

Steps:

  • Saute beef, 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes and 2 onions in large frying pan. Drain excess fat. Lots of onions makes this good.
  • Meanwhile, in another pan cook macaroni in boiling, salted water until tender. Set aside until almost ready to serve.
  • When beef and onions are finished cooking, add the canned, crushed tomatores and approximately 1/2 cup water; also add garlic salt, pepper, chili powder and mix well.
  • Simmer for about 20 minutes; then add cooked macaroni noodles and mix well when ready to serve. If you add the macaroni noodles too soon, they may over cook and get mushy.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of tomatoes. Fresh, canned, or diced tomatoes can all be used in this recipe. For the best flavor, use a combination of fresh and canned tomatoes.
  • Choose the right macaroni. Elbow macaroni is the classic choice for goulash, but you can also use other shapes like shells, penne, or rotini.
  • Brown the hamburger meat well. This will help to develop the flavor of the meat and prevent it from becoming dry.
  • Add a variety of vegetables. Onions, celery, and green peppers are classic additions to goulash, but you can also add other vegetables like carrots, zucchini, or corn.
  • Season the goulash to taste. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder are all good starting points. You can also add other spices like paprika, cumin, or chili powder.
  • Serve the goulash hot. Goulash is best served hot, with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped parsley.

Conclusion:

Tomato hamburger macaroni goulash is a hearty, flavorful, and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover hamburger meat. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will love.
