Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/4 cups flour
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup baking cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 sticks butter
8 oz. softened cream cheese
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz.) pkg. (1 1/2 cups) english toffee bits, divided

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. In medium bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, cocoa and baking soda. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Press into bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes. In large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add sweetened condensed milk, eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in 1 cup toffee bits. Pour mixture over hot crust. Bake 25 minutes or until set and edges just begin to brown. Remove from oven. Cool 15 minutes. Sprinkle remaining toffee bits evenly over top. Cool completely. Refrigerate several hours or until chilled. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator.

Tips:

  • Use a light-colored baking pan. This will help the bars bake evenly and prevent the bottom from getting too dark.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the bars tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the bars until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached. Overbaking will make the bars dry.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them. This will help them hold their shape.
  • Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the bars for up to 2 months.
  • Garnish with chopped nuts, sprinkles, or a drizzle of melted chocolate before serving.

Conclusion:

These toffee-topped bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With their chewy toffee topping and moist, flavorful base, they're sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a sweet snack or dessert, give these toffee-topped bars a try!
