Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 c butter
1 1/2 c graham cracker crumbs
(1) 14oz can(s) sweetened condensed milk
1 1/4 c almond toffee bits (if you can not find almond toffee bits, you can substitute 1-1/4 cups chopped slivered almonds)
1 1/4 c english toffee bits or crushed english toffee candy bars
1 c (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 c chopped pecans

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place butter in a 9- x 13-inch baking dish. Heat 4 minutes or until butter melts. Layer graham cracker crumbs and remaining ingredients in baking dish with melted butter.
  • 2. Firmly press mixture into baking dish. Bake 25 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool completely in baking dish on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Tips:

  • To achieve the perfect toffee flavor in your cookie bars, use high-quality butter and brown sugar. Look for butter with a fat content of at least 80% and brown sugar that is soft and moist.
  • Be sure to chill the cookie dough before baking. This will help the bars hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookie bars until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Over-baking will make the bars dry and crumbly.
  • Allow the cookie bars to cool completely before cutting them into bars. This will help prevent them from falling apart.
  • For a richer toffee flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a pinch of salt to the cookie dough.
  • To make the toffee topping, use a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Stir the butter and brown sugar constantly until the mixture reaches a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Conclusion:

Toffee cookie bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With their chewy cookie base and rich toffee topping, these bars are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a sweet and satisfying snack, give these toffee cookie bars a try!
