Steps:
- Cut muffin in half, toast and butter if you feel necessary (I didn't).
- Heat the baked beans gently.
- Place the muffin halves in a oven-proof dish it will cover the base of.
- Place a Dairylea slice on the muffin, then the ham.
- Top with baked beans.
- Sprinkle with parmesan then cheddar.
- Heat for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- NOTE: I added breadcrumbs but felt that they took too long to brown, it does add a bit of crunch though if you want to add to the topping.

PAN-FRIED CHEESE TOASTIE
It's as simple as a toasted sandwich but it tastes better! In this recipe you don't need to put in the ham or the chives but you can add extra ingredients (onions etc.)

PUFF PASTRY TOASTED SANDWICHES IN YOUR SANDWICH MAKER!
My Zaar friend Kooka suggested making a toasted sandwich without the toast ! I got curious, played around with her idea and et Voila! she told me to post the recipe. Ok, healthy.. not really... yummy... sure is! Puff pastry here in the Netherlands is a pest to use in regular large pies becuase it comes in a box of 10 small individual squares. think jig-saw pieces then you want to make a large pie, and it usually takes me less time to make and roll my own... but my small ready made squares are PERFECT for this recipe.. if you are lucky enough to be able to buy ready made puff pastry in one big piece you will need to cut it up to fit. COMFORT FOOD... the fillings are as endless as peoples' personal taste.. but things that cook quick, yes? I used three Knackworstjes but the Zaar database doesn't recognise those so Smokies (mini knackworstjes) are the closest description I can get. In Honour of Kooka's idea I dedicate this to ZWT REGION: Australia.

Steps:
- Melt the butter and spread on the toasted sandwich maker inside top and bottom cooking plates.
- Cut thawed pastry to the same size that the bread would usually be and place one piece on the bottom of the sandwich maker top with grated cheese and extra fillings of your choice. Top with another piece of pastry.
- Repeat with the other side of the toasted sandwich maker to fill up the other side.

- Cook until pastry is golden brown and cooked (about 10 minutes).
- Trim off any uncooked pastry (I had a little bit but it was only a thin sliver).

Tips:
- Choose the Right Bread: Select a bread that toasts well and can withstand the fillings without getting soggy. Good options include sourdough, whole wheat, or a hearty white bread.
- Generous Butter: Be generous with the butter on both sides of the bread slices. This will help create a golden, crispy exterior and prevent sticking to the pan.
- Quality Fillings: Use high-quality fillings that you enjoy. Some popular options include cheese, ham, bacon, eggs, vegetables, and spreads like pesto or hummus.
- Don't Overcrowd the Sandwich: Avoid overloading the sandwich with too many fillings, as this can make it difficult to cook evenly and may cause the bread to become soggy.
- Cook Over Medium Heat: Cook the sandwich over medium heat to ensure that it cooks evenly without burning.
- Flip Carefully: Use a spatula to carefully flip the sandwich halfway through cooking to ensure even browning on both sides.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the toasted sandwich immediately after cooking while it is hot and crispy.
Conclusion:
Using a frying pan or skillet to make toasted sandwiches without a toastie maker is a versatile and convenient method that allows for customization and flexibility. With the right ingredients, technique, and a little patience, you can create delicious, golden-brown toasted sandwiches filled with your favorite fillings. Experiment with different breads, cheeses, and toppings to create sandwiches that suit your taste preferences and dietary restrictions. Enjoy the convenience of making toasted sandwiches in a pan and impress your friends and family with your culinary skills!
