TOASTED BUTTER PECANS

This recipe comes from the cookbook that accompanied my first microwave, in 1974. These salty, crunchy pecans are good for snacking. They also go well with drinks. You may want to adjust the amount of seasoned salt to your taste, particularly if you use salted butter.

4 Tbsp butter melted
1 tsp salt
16 oz bag, pecan halves
~OR~
***ADJUSTED AMOUNTS FOR A 12 OUNCE BAG OF PECAN HALVES***
only 3 tablespoons of butter, and 3/4 teaspoon of salt

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 320 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • 2. Melt butter, and stir in the salt. Place the pecans in a bowl. Pour the butter mixture over the pecans and toss lightly.
  • 3. Place the buttered pecans on the baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes. Stirring half way through. Remove from the oven and cool.
  • 4. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use fresh pecans. Fresh pecans will yield the best flavor and texture.
  • Toast the pecans before using. Toasting the pecans will bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy.
  • Use unsalted butter. Unsalted butter will allow you to control the amount of salt in the recipe.
  • Use pure maple syrup. Pure maple syrup will give the pecans a rich, sweet flavor.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When toasting the pecans, don't overcrowd the pan, or they will not toast evenly.
  • Stir the pecans frequently. When toasting the pecans, stir them frequently to ensure that they toast evenly.
  • Watch the pecans carefully. When toasting the pecans, watch them carefully to ensure that they do not burn.
  • Allow the pecans to cool before serving. Once the pecans are toasted, allow them to cool before serving.

Conclusion:

Toasted butter pecans are a delicious and versatile snack. They can be enjoyed on their own, added to salads, or used as a topping for desserts. They are also a great gift idea. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a batch of toasted butter pecans that will be enjoyed by everyone.
