Tips:
- Use Fresh Cornmeal: For the best flavor and texture, use fresh cornmeal that has been milled within the last six months. You can find fresh cornmeal at most grocery stores or online.
- Don't Overmix the Batter: Overmixing the batter will result in a tough, dense cornbread. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
- Use a Hot Oven: Cornbread should be baked in a hot oven, at least 400°F. This will help the cornbread to rise and brown properly.
- Don't Overbake the Cornbread: Cornbread is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Overbaking will dry out the cornbread.
- Serve Warm: Cornbread is best served warm out of the oven. You can also reheat it in a toaster oven or microwave.
