Great for parties or the family to munch on! Easy too! Yum! Got this from a box of Ritz whole wheat crackers.

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 22m

Yield 4 dozen melts

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (6 ounce) can solid white tuna packed in water, drained, flaked
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
48 whole wheat crackers (Ritz round crackers)
1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Mix tuna, mayonnaise and celery until well blended.
  • Top each cracker with 1 teaspoon of the tuna mixture.
  • Sprinkle top with 1/2 teaspoon of cheese.
  • Place 6 topped crackers on microwaveable plate.
  • Microwave on HIGH 15 seconds or until topping is heated through and cheese is melted.
  • Or place all the topped crackers on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 5 minutes to heat through.
  • Sprinkle top of crackers with black pepper.
  • Repeat with the remaining topped crackers if using microwave.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality tuna: Opt for solid white albacore tuna packed in water or olive oil for the best flavor and texture.
  • Shred your own cheese: Pre-shredded cheese often contains additives and preservatives that can affect the taste and texture of your tuna melts.
  • Don't overcook the tuna: Tuna should be cooked just until it is flaky and opaque. Overcooking will make it dry and tough.
  • Use a variety of breads: Try different types of bread for your tuna melts, such as sourdough, rye, or whole wheat.
  • Get creative with your toppings: In addition to the classic tomato and onion, try adding other toppings to your tuna melts, such as avocado, bacon, or roasted red peppers.

Conclusion:

Tiny tuna melts are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or meal. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a satisfying and flavorful dish that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and tasty bite, give these tiny tuna melts a try!
