4 cups milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
8 ounces bittersweet chocolate (or semisweet, coarsely chopped )
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
whipped cream (Schlag,see recipe below) (optional)
english toffee, crushed (optional)
unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)

Steps:

  • In a saucepan combine milk, water, and sugar.
  • Stir over medium heat until mixture just comes to boiling.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in chocolate and vanilla.
