1 ½ teaspoons vegetable oil

Tips:

  • Use high-quality butter for the best flavor and texture. Unsalted butter is recommended so you can control the amount of salt in the cookies.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help the cookies spread less in the oven.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Use a cookie scoop to drop the dough onto the baking sheet. This will help ensure that the cookies are all the same size and shape.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just starting to brown. Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Fill the thumbprint indentations with your favorite jam, jelly, or preserves. You can also get creative and use other fillings, such as chocolate ganache, peanut butter, or caramel.

Conclusion:

Thumbprint shortbread cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are buttery, crumbly, and have a sweet and tangy filling. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect thumbprint shortbread cookies that everyone will love.
