Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the salad will taste. If possible, use organic produce.
  • Choose ripe mandarins: Ripe mandarins are sweeter and juicier than unripe mandarins. Look for mandarins that are deep orange in color and slightly soft to the touch.
  • Segment the mandarins properly: To segment the mandarins, use a sharp knife to cut off the top and bottom of the fruit. Then, score the peel of the mandarin in quarters from top to bottom. Peel the mandarin away from the segments and discard the peel.
  • Make the dressing ahead of time: The dressing can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. This will save you time when you're ready to assemble the salad.
  • Chill the salad before serving: Chilling the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving will help the flavors to meld together and will make the salad more refreshing.
