HERB POPCORN

Calling all popcorn addicts! This herb popcorn is spiced up with butter and a mix of dried herbs, and works as a healthy snack or for entertaining.

Time 10m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/3 cup popcorn kernels
2 tablespoons butter (or coconut oil, for vegan)
1 teaspoon dried all herb mixture (for example, a mix of basil, rosemary, savory, tarragon, and thyme)
1 teaspoon nutritional yeast*
Fine popcorn salt (Tip: To make popcorn salt, crush kosher salt using a mortar and pestle)

Steps:

  • Pop the popcorn in an air popper or our Stovetop Popcorn method.
  • Meanwhile, melt the butter. Add the dried herbs and nutritional yeast; stir to combine. Pour the mixture over the popcorn, and sprinkle with popcorn salt to taste.

Tips:

  • Choose the right popcorn. Not all popcorn is created equal. For the best results, use a popcorn that is specifically designed for popping. You can find popcorn kernels at most grocery stores.
  • Use fresh herbs. Fresh herbs will give your popcorn the most flavor. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but they will not be as flavorful.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot. If you overcrowd the pot, the popcorn will not pop properly. Use a large pot so that the popcorn has plenty of room to pop.
  • Keep the pot covered. Keeping the pot covered will help the popcorn pop evenly. Once the popcorn starts popping, don't lift the lid until the popping has stopped.
  • Add the herbs at the end. Adding the herbs at the end will help them retain their flavor. If you add them too early, they will burn.

Conclusion:

Making herb-infused popcorn is a great way to add some extra flavor to your favorite snack. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and unique popcorn that is perfect for any occasion. So next time you're looking for a healthy and satisfying snack, give herb-infused popcorn a try.
