Time 40m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 cups cooked elbow macaroni, Drained
2 cups cheddar cheese
3 eggs, Beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
4 tablespoons butter, Cut Into Pieces
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
additional cheddar cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees F.
  • Once you have the macaroni cooked and drained, place in a large bowl and while still hot and add the cheddar. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and add to the macaroni mixture. Pour macaroni mixture into a casserole dish and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Top with additional cheese if desired.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese is the star of the show in mac and cheese, so it's important to use a good quality one. Look for a cheese that is sharp and flavorful, such as cheddar, Gruyère, or fontina.
  • Use a combination of cheeses: Using a combination of cheeses will give your mac and cheese a more complex flavor. For example, you could use a combination of cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan cheeses.
  • Make a roux: A roux is a mixture of butter and flour that is used to thicken sauces. Adding a roux to your mac and cheese will help to give it a creamy and smooth texture.
  • Cook the macaroni al dente: Al dente means "to the tooth" in Italian, and it refers to the texture of pasta that is cooked but still has a slight bite to it. Cooking the macaroni al dente will help to prevent it from becoming mushy in the mac and cheese.
  • Season the mac and cheese well: Salt and pepper are essential seasonings for mac and cheese, but you can also add other spices and herbs to taste. Some popular additions include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  • Garnish the mac and cheese before serving: Garnishing the mac and cheese with a sprinkle of grated cheese, crumbled bacon, or chopped parsley will add a touch of elegance and make it more appealing to eat.

Conclusion:

Mac and cheese is a classic comfort food that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you're making it for a family dinner or a potluck, following these tips will help you make the best mac and cheese possible.
