- 2. In a medium round bowl, spray inside of bowl with PAM. Line the bowl with plastic wrap. First sheet going North and second sheet going South. Start in the bottom center of the bowl and place 1 slice of provolone, then start working up the sides of the bowl with cheese slices so the it starts to look like a flower.
- 3. Add half of the cream cheese mixture to the bottom of bowl. Add the sun dried presto (which has been drained of any oils). Add remaining cream cheese mixture and then add the basil pesto (drained of any oils) on top. Place remaining Provolone cheese to cover the cheese.
- 4. Grab the ends of the plastic wrap and pull tightly and twist the plastic closed so that it forms a ball. Refrigerate for at least 3 -4 hours or more to set. Unwrap the cheese ball, turn ball over, plate and serve
Tips:
- For a smoother cheese ball, cream the butter and cream cheese together until light and fluffy before adding the remaining ingredients.
- If you want a cheese ball with a stronger flavor, use a combination of sharp cheddar cheese and blue cheese.
- To make a cheese ball that is easier to roll, chill the mixture for at least 30 minutes before shaping it.
- If you are using a food processor to make the cheese ball, be careful not to over-process it. The mixture should be well combined, but not too smooth.
- To prevent the cheese ball from sticking to your hands, coat them with a little bit of butter or oil before shaping the mixture.
- If you are rolling the cheese ball in nuts or herbs, press them into the mixture firmly so that they adhere.
- Serve the cheese ball with crackers, vegetables, or fruit.
