THE BEST PUMPKIN PIE EVER!

The Best Pumpkin Pie Ever! image

I call it this because that what everyone else calls it! I get requests for this every Thanksgiving and even diehard pumpkin pie haters have been converted after tasting it. Serve with softly whipped cream or some good vanilla ice cream. Please note: If planning to make just one pie, I recommond using a deep dish pie shell as the recipe makes enough filling for two regular pies.

Time 1h

Yield 1 pie

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (9 inch) unbaked deep dish pie shells
2 1/2 cups pumpkin puree
1 (10 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  • In a large bowl combine the pumpkin puree, condensed milk, eggs, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.
  • Mix well and turn into the crust.
  • Bake 15 minutes; reduce the oven temperature to 350° and bake another 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted 1-inch from the edge comes out clean.
  • Cool before cutting.
  • Garnish with whipped cream.
  • Refrigerate leftovers.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pumpkin. Look for a sugar pumpkin or a small pie pumpkin, which have a sweeter flavor than other types of pumpkins.
  • Roast the pumpkin. Roasting the pumpkin intensifies its flavor and makes it easier to puree.
  • Use fresh spices. Ground spices lose their flavor over time, so use fresh spices whenever possible.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make the pie tough.
  • Blind-bake the crust. Blind-baking the crust prevents it from becoming soggy.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld.

Conclusion:

With its creamy, spiced filling and flaky crust, this pumpkin pie is sure to be a hit at your next gathering. Follow these tips to make the best pumpkin pie ever: choose the right pumpkin, roast the pumpkin, use fresh spices, don't overmix the batter, blind-bake the crust, and let the pie cool completely before serving.
