  • Reduce speed to low and gradually add in the flour mixture, blending just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Scoop 1 1/2-inch balls of dough 3 inches apart onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet; freeze for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (225 degrees C).
  • Bake cookies in the preheated oven, rotating halfway through, until golden around the edges and slightly gooey inside, about 8 minutes. Let stand on the baking sheet for 4 to 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

THE BEST ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies image

Whenever you make these cookies for someone, be sure to bring along several copies of the recipe! You will be asked for it, I promise! NOTE: I make icing with confectioners' sugar and milk. I make it fairly thin, as I 'paint' the icing on the cookies with a pastry brush. Thin enough to spread easily but not so thin that it just makes your cookies wet and runs off.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the cookies will be. This means using real butter, pure vanilla extract, and high-quality chocolate chips.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help the cookies to be chewy and tender.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make the cookies tough.
  • Chill the dough before baking: This will help the cookies to hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies at the correct temperature and for the correct amount of time: Baking the cookies at too high a temperature or for too long will make them dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack: This will help them to cool evenly and prevent them from becoming soggy.

Conclusion:

These tips will help you to make the best cookies ever. With a little practice, you'll be able to make cookies that are delicious, chewy, and perfect for any occasion.
