THAI SALAD WITH CILANTRO LIME DRESSING

Thai Salad with Cilantro Lime Dressing image

I created this salad to replicate one I tried on a cruise several years ago. It goes over very well at family gatherings and potlucks year-round. We love the spice of the Thai chile, but if your family isn't into spice, feel free to leave it out. It will still be delicious! —Donna Gribbins, Shelbyville, Kentucky

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh, ripe ingredients.
  • If you can't find makrut lime leaves, you can substitute kaffir lime leaves or even regular lime leaves.
  • Use a mortar and pestle to grind the dressing ingredients together. This will help release the flavors and aromas of the herbs and spices.
  • If you don't have a mortar and pestle, you can use a blender or food processor. Just be sure to not over-process the dressing, or it will become too thick.
  • Taste the dressing before adding it to the salad. You may need to adjust the flavors by adding more lime juice, fish sauce, or sugar.
  • Serve the salad immediately, or it will start to wilt.

Conclusion:

This Thai salad is a refreshing and flavorful dish that is perfect for a light lunch or dinner. The combination of sweet, sour, and salty flavors is sure to please everyone at the table. The salad is also very easy to make, and it can be prepared in just a few minutes. So next time you're looking for a quick and healthy meal, give this Thai salad a try.
