This sweet and easy dessert treat is courtesy of my dear SiL...they are easy to make, and taste delicious. Good recipe for the kids to help with, and great for parties and gift giving if you put them in mini cupcake papers. The candy coating/almond bark is usually sold in packages of flat rectangles, not chips, but either could be used - 1 package is all that's required for the recipe. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact size in ounces, so this is an estimate.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh tumbleweeds. If you can't find fresh tumbleweeds, you can use dried tumbleweeds, but they will need to be soaked in water for at least 30 minutes before using.
  • To make sure the candy is cooked properly, insert a toothpick into the center of the candy. If the toothpick comes out clean, the candy is done. If the toothpick comes out with candy still on it, cook the candy for a few minutes longer.
  • Let the candy cool completely before cutting it into pieces. This will help prevent the candy from sticking to the knife.
  • Store the candy in an airtight container at room temperature. The candy will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Texas tumbleweed candy is a delicious and unique treat that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and only requires a few simple ingredients. So next time you see a tumbleweed, don't pass it up! Pick it up and make some delicious candy.
