Categories     Burgers

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1-2 lb ribeye or sirloin
1 poblano or ahaheim pepper, sliced
1 sweet onion, sliced
4-8 slice asadero cheese, or your fav mexican cheese
1 large ciabatta or burger buns
granulated garlic and black pepper to taste
olive oil

Steps:

  • 1. You will want your steak slice paper thin if possible. Also slice pepper and onions. Drizzle with a little olive oil and cook until onions are tender.
  • 2. Season beef with favorite seasonings, I use granulated garlic and black pepper. If cooking in a skillet remove cooked veggies and cook meat. If using a grill or griddle, move veggies to one side and place meat on and cook to doneness you prefer.
  • 3. Mix veggies and meat together and place on toasted bun with cheese. Enjoy this simple but delicious "burger".

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Steak: Opt for a tender cut of steak like ribeye, strip loin, or tenderloin to ensure a juicy and flavorful sandwich.
  • Marinate Your Steak: Marinating the steak in a flavorful mixture of olive oil, herbs, and spices enhances its taste and tenderizes it.
  • Cook to Your Desired Doneness: Depending on your preference, cook the steak to your desired level of doneness, whether it's rare, medium-rare, medium, or well-done.
  • Slice Against the Grain: When slicing the steak, cut against the grain to break down the muscle fibers and make it easier to chew.
  • Toast Your Bread: Toasting the bread adds a crispy texture and helps it hold up better against the juicy steak and toppings.
  • Use Quality Toppings: Choose fresh and flavorful toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles to complement the steak.
  • Add Some Sauce: Experiment with different sauces like BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, or a simple vinaigrette to add extra flavor to the sandwich.

Conclusion:

With its tender and juicy steak, crispy toasted bread, and a variety of flavorful toppings, the Texas-style steak sandwich is a classic for a reason. By following these tips and choosing the right ingredients, you can easily create this mouthwatering sandwich at home. Whether you're hosting a casual gathering or simply craving a hearty and satisfying meal, this sandwich is sure to delight your taste buds. So fire up your grill or skillet, gather your ingredients, and enjoy the delicious experience of a Texas-style steak sandwich in the comfort of your own home.
