SLOW COOKER BABY BACK RIBS

Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs image

These are the best I've had, short of the actual grilling method of course! This is a very simple recipe that I came up with a few years ago. It's not rocket science, just ribs cooked in the slow cooker and finished in the oven. This is what I do when I want ribs during the week and have to work all day. I'm eating them within a half-hour of getting home, and they turn out perfect every time!

TEXAS STYLE FALL OF THE BONE CROCK POT PORK RIBS

Time 5h20m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

cryovacor any brand pork ribs
1/4 cup favorite dry rub seasonings
1/4 cup barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • This recipe is so simple and easy and tastes so delicious. I use the cryovac Kansas City style pork rib slabs, but any style would work except boneless pork ribs. With those you would need some kind of rack in the bottom of your crock pot so they don't rest in the accumulation of fat and juices while cooking. Rub the rack of ribs with your favorite dry rub. If you don't have a favorite, you can make a quick dry rub with seasoned salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder and onion powder (or any combination of those). You can do a marinate over night, but I like the way the dry rubs taste. For easier clean up use a crock pot liner. Place the ribs in the crock standing on their side. No need to add any liquid. Cook on low for 8 or more hours, or on high for 5 hours. The ribs are done when you see them pulling away from the bone. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Remove the ribs carefully from the crockpot and place on a flat pan, meaty side up. Brush or pour on and spread BBQ sauce, as much or as little as you like. Cook in oven for 10-15 minutes, just long enough to carmelize the sugars in the sauce. Remove from oven, slice into servings. Serve with potato salad, ranch beans, pickles and onions. Yummy!

Tips:

  • Choose the best ribs: Look for pork ribs that are meaty and have a good amount of marbling.
  • Trim the ribs: Before cooking, remove any excess fat or membrane from the ribs.
  • Season the ribs: Rub the ribs with a mixture of salt, pepper, and your favorite spices before cooking.
  • Use a slow cooker: A crock pot is the perfect way to cook ribs because it allows the meat to cook slowly and tenderize.
  • Add liquid to the crock pot: Add a cup or two of liquid to the crock pot, such as water, broth, or beer.
  • Cook the ribs on low: Cook the ribs on low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is fall-off-the-bone tender.
  • Make a sauce: While the ribs are cooking, make a sauce to serve with them. A simple BBQ sauce or a more complex sauce with a variety of ingredients can be used.
  • Serve the ribs: Serve the ribs with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, baked beans, or mashed potatoes.

Conclusion:

Texas-style fall-off-the-bone crock pot pork ribs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a meal that your family and friends will love. So next time you're looking for a hearty and satisfying meal, give this recipe a try!
