Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 c sugar
1/4 c all purpose flour
1 stick butter, melted
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c buttermilk
1 uncooked deep dish pie crust

Steps:

  • 1. 2 c sugar ¼ c flour Mix together
  • 2. 1 stick butter melted 3 eggs beaten 1 tsp vanilla 1 c buttermilk Hand mix these in separate bowl
  • 3. Then gradually add dry mixture and hand mix Pour into deep dish pie crust Bake at 350 60-70 minutes or until middle of pie is set if top starts browning before its finished I always lay a piece of foil over the top once light brown then finish cooking =)

Tips:

  • Use fresh buttermilk for the best flavor and texture. Buttermilk that has been sitting in the refrigerator for a while may have lost its potency and will not produce as good of a pie.
  • Make sure the butter is cold when you add it to the flour mixture. This will help to create a flaky crust.
  • Do not overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the crust tough.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. If the dough is too thick, it will not cook through properly.
  • Trim the edges of the dough so that they are even. This will help to prevent the crust from shrinking during baking.
  • Bake the pie in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the crust cooks evenly.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will help to set the filling and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

Texas buttermilk pie is a delicious and classic Southern dessert. With its creamy filling and flaky crust, it is sure to please everyone at your table. By following these tips, you can make a buttermilk pie that is perfect for any occasion.
