Time 17m

Yield 1 steak, 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2/3 cup red wine
2/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
4 cloves garlic (or more)
1 teaspoon thyme
1 tablespoon sesame oil

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients and trim any fat from the flank steak.
  • Score the flank steak and put into a gallon size freezer bag,add the marinade and put in refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
  • (longer is better) Also, you may double or triple the marinade recipe and do several flank steaks and store in the freezer, just be sure to get as much air out of the bags before putting in the freezer.
  • Cook the flank steak approx. 5-6 minutes on each side for medium rare.

Tips:

  • To save time, marinate the flank steak overnight or for at least 4 hours. This will allow the flavors to penetrate the meat and make it more tender.
  • If you don't have time to marinate the steak, you can still make this recipe. Just be sure to cook the steak for a shorter amount of time so that it doesn't become tough.
  • To make the teriyaki sauce, use a good quality soy sauce. This will make a big difference in the flavor of the sauce.
  • Be sure to cook the steak over high heat so that it gets a nice sear. This will help to lock in the juices and keep the steak tender.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing it. This will allow the juices to redistribute and make the steak more tender.

Conclusion:

This teriyaki marinated flank steak is a delicious and easy-to-make recipe that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The steak is tender and flavorful, and the teriyaki sauce is the perfect complement. Serve it with rice, vegetables, or your favorite sides.
