Time 40m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 pound lean ground beef
3 medium carrots, peeled and diced
½ large red bell pepper, diced
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 large zucchini, diced
½ cup soy sauce
⅓ cup water
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Combine ground beef, carrots, and bell pepper in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat; saute for 4 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add zucchini and continue to cook until ground beef is fully cooked through and vegetables are crisp-tender (to your preferred "doneness"), about 5 more minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine soy sauce, 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons water, sugar, brown sugar, vinegar, cornstarch, onion powder, ginger, and garlic powder in a small bowl for the sauce. Whisk until well blended.
  • When the meat and veggies are cooked, whisk sauce once more and pour into the skillet. Use a spatula to mix and get everything off the sides and bottom.
  • Turn the heat up until sauce begins to bubble, stirring occasionally until mixture becomes thickened and glossy. Turn heat off. Taste and adjust seasonings.

10-MINUTE BEEF TERIYAKI SKILLET RECIPE - (5/5)

10-Minute Beef Teriyaki Skillet Recipe - (5/5) image

Provided by Susan52

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb. extra lean ground beef (I used 96% lean)
1 cup finely diced onion*
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger (or about 1/4 teaspoon dried ground ginger)
3/4 cup thick teriyaki sauce (such as Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce)
Optional Garnish: sliced green onion, toasted sesame seeds
For Serving: rice, tortillas, or lettuce wraps

Steps:

  • In a large skillet preheat 1 teaspoon sesame oil over medium-high heat for about 1 minute. The sesame oil adds great flavor to the dish, but if you don't have any you can substitute with canola or vegetable oil. Add beef, onion, garlic and ginger to the skillet. Cook, breaking up the meat as you stir, until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is tender (about 5-7 minutes). Drain, and return meat to skillet. Stir teriyaki sauce into the beef mixture. Bring to a low simmer and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, just until sauce thickens slightly. Serve over rice, in tortillas, or in lettuce wraps. Notes *Tip: I like to use frozen diced onion for recipes like this, because it eliminates any prep work!

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground beef: For the best results, use 80/20 ground beef. This ratio of lean to fat will give your skillet a nice, juicy flavor.
  • Cook the beef in batches: If you try to cook all of the beef at once, it will steam instead of brown. Cook it in batches so that each piece has a chance to sear.
  • Use a large skillet: A large skillet will give the beef plenty of room to brown and will help to prevent it from sticking.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet: When you add the beef to the skillet, make sure not to overcrowd it. If you do, the beef will steam instead of brown.
  • Use a wooden spoon to break up the beef: As the beef cooks, use a wooden spoon to break it up into small pieces. This will help it to cook evenly.
  • Add the vegetables: Once the beef is browned, add the vegetables and cook them until they are tender.
  • Add the sauce: Stir in the teriyaki sauce and bring to a simmer. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes, or until it has thickened.
  • Serve over rice or noodles: Serve the teriyaki ground beef skillet over rice or noodles.

Conclusion:

This teriyaki ground beef skillet is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. It is also a great way to use up leftover ground beef. The beef is cooked in a flavorful teriyaki sauce and served over rice or noodles. This dish is sure to please the whole family.
