BROILED SALMON WITH HOMEMADE TERIYAKI GLAZE

Broiled Salmon with Homemade Teriyaki Glaze image

Simple salmon cooked under the oven's broiler with a homemade teriyaki glaze. I really like how well teriyaki flavor pairs with salmon but store-bought teriyaki sauce is so thin and doesn't stay on but runs underneath the fish. I came up with this homemade version that is more of a glaze that stays on the fish.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Salmon: Opt for fresh or frozen salmon fillets that are firm and have a vibrant color. Avoid fillets with any signs of discoloration or off-odors.
  • Make Sure to Debone: If using fresh salmon fillets, carefully remove any pin bones using a pair of tweezers or a fish bone remover.
  • Season Wisely: Don't be afraid to experiment with different seasonings to enhance the flavor of your salmon patties. Try adding a touch of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or dried herbs like thyme or oregano.
  • Don't Overmix: When combining the salmon mixture, avoid overmixing, as this can result in tough patties. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Chill before Cooking: Chilling the salmon mixture for at least 30 minutes before cooking helps the patties hold their shape better and ensures even cooking.
  • Cook Gently: Pan-fry the salmon patties over medium heat, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. This allows them to cook evenly without burning.
  • Use a Non-Stick Pan: To prevent the patties from sticking, use a non-stick pan or grease a regular pan with cooking spray or a little oil.
  • Flip Carefully: When flipping the salmon patties, use a spatula and be gentle to prevent them from breaking apart.
  • Conclusion:
