Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of pork: Pork shoulder (also called pork butt) is the best cut for slow cooking. It's a tough cut, but the long, slow cooking process breaks down the connective tissue and makes it fall-apart tender.
  • Sear the pork before slow cooking: Searing the pork in a hot skillet before slow cooking helps to develop flavor and color. It also helps to keep the juices in the pork as it cooks.
  • Use a flavorful liquid: The liquid you use to slow cook the pork is important for adding flavor. You can use water, broth, wine, or even beer. You can also add herbs, spices, and vegetables to the liquid for extra flavor.
  • Cook the pork on low and slow: The key to tender, fall-apart pork is to cook it on low and slow. This allows the connective tissue to break down and the flavors to develop.
  • Let the pork rest before serving: Once the pork is cooked, let it rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Slow-cooked pork roast is a delicious and easy meal that's perfect for a family dinner. By following these tips, you can make a tender, fall-apart pork roast that everyone will love. Serve it with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or roasted vegetables.
