Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F.
- Cream butter and sugar in a big bowl. Add the egg yolk. Sift in flour and salt and stir until just combined. Fold in granola cereal or nuts. Mix well.
- Using your hands (if the dough is sticky, flour them lightly) take small lumps of dough and roll them into balls. Make an indentation into each ball using your fingers or the handle of a wooden spoon.
- Fill each cookie with a ts of your favourite jam and bake for 12-15 minutes on a paper-lined baking sheet. The cookies should be slightly browned and the jam bubbly.
Tips:
- To achieve the perfect thumbprint, use the back of a spoon to press down into the center of each cookie dough ball, creating a small indent. - For a more intense jam flavor, refrigerate the cookies for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will allow the jam to set and concentrate its flavor. - For a fun and festive touch, decorate the cookies with sprinkles, chopped nuts, or other colorful toppings before baking. - If you don't have jam on hand, you can use other fillings such as Nutella, peanut butter, or even cream cheese. - For a more decadent cookie, try using a flavored jam, such as raspberry, strawberry, or blackberry. - If the dough is too sticky to handle, chill it for 30 minutes before shaping the cookies. - To make sure the cookies are evenly baked, rotate the baking sheet halfway through the baking time. Conclusion:
With their sweet and buttery dough, delightful jam filling, and irresistible appearance, these thumbprint cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. Perfect for any occasion, from casual gatherings to special celebrations, these cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth. So, gather your ingredients, preheat your oven, and let's get baking!
