I was looking online for a green olive dip my sister's ex-boyfriend used to make that I loved, but I think this one is even better! His was just the olives and cream cheese, thinned with some olive brine.... Keeper! Found this on GroupRecipes.com.

5 ounces green olives (with pimentos)
16 ounces cream cheese (2 packages)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 small onion

CHEEZY GREEN OLIVE DIP

A dip/spread with a bit of a bite, thanks to the green olives. If you're an olive fan, add even more. Prep time includes lots of chilling time.

Categories     Spreads

Time 3h

Yield 1 cup, 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (4 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup cheese spread (like Cheez Whiz)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
8 pimento stuffed olives, chopped

Steps:

  • Combine cheeses, Worcestershire sauce and garlic salt in a small bowl; beat until smooth.
  • You could also do this in a food processor.
  • Stir in the chopped olives; pulse in lightly if using food processor.
  • Pack into a small serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let flavours blend.
  • Garnish with additional sliced green olives if you wish and serve with an assortment of crackers and raw veggies.

Tips:

  • For a tangier dip, use green olives that are cured in brine rather than oil. Kalamata olives would be a great option!
  • Finely chop the olives for a smoother spread. You can also pulse them in a food processor until they reach your desired consistency.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing it with the other ingredients. This will help to create a smooth and creamy dip.
  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor. Bottled lemon juice will also work, but it may not be as tangy.
  • Garnish the dip with fresh herbs, such as parsley, dill, or basil, before serving.

Conclusion:

This tangy green olive dip is the perfect appetizer or snack. It's easy to make, delicious, and sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Serve it with pita chips, crackers, or vegetables. You can also use it as a spread for sandwiches or wraps. No matter how you choose to enjoy it, this dip is sure to be a hit.
