CROCK POT TAMALE PIE

Crock Pot Tamale Pie image

I always enjoy food with a Mexican flavor and this one sure hit the spot! As a big ol' bonus, it's also a cinch to prepare. Try spraying the inside of the crock-pot with cooking spray when you begin so that you're sure to get every last bit out of the pot when it's cooked!

Tips:

  • Prep the Filling First: Before assembling the pot pie, cook and season the tamale filling to perfection. This ensures each layer is flavorful and well-balanced.
  • Choose Your Crust Wisely: You can use store-bought pie crusts or make your own. If using store-bought, thaw them according to package instructions.
  • Layer It Up: Place a layer of tamale filling in the bottom of a greased baking dish. Top with a layer of cornbread batter, then another layer of tamale filling. Finish with a final layer of cornbread batter.
  • Bake Until Golden: Bake the pot pie in a preheated oven until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. This usually takes around 30-40 minutes.
  • Let It Rest: Allow the pot pie to cool slightly before slicing and serving. This helps the filling set and prevents it from becoming runny.

Conclusion:

The tamale pot pie is a delicious and unique twist on a classic comfort food. With its flavorful tamale filling, moist cornbread topping, and creamy cheese sauce, it's a dish that will surely satisfy. Whether you're looking for a hearty meal to feed your family or a creative dish to impress your friends, the tamale pot pie is sure to be a hit.
