- Slice the potatoes thinly: Thinly sliced potatoes will cook more evenly and will help the casserole to bake evenly.
- Brown the potatoes before baking: Browning the potatoes before baking will give them a crispy texture and help to develop their flavor.
- Use a good quality cheese: The type of cheese you use will make a big difference in the flavor of the casserole. Use a cheese that melts well and has a strong flavor, such as cheddar, Gruyère, or Emmental.
- Add some herbs and spices: Herbs and spices can help to enhance the flavor of the casserole. Some good options include garlic, onion, thyme, rosemary, and paprika.
- Don't overcook the casserole: The casserole is done when the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Overcooking the casserole will make the potatoes mushy.
