Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 large sweet potatoes, quartered
4 slices bacon
3 tablespoons butter
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ cup light cream
¼ cup milk
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 2-quart baking dish; set aside.

  • To save time, you can microwave the sweet potatoes until tender before mashing them.
  • If you don't have any bacon on hand, you can substitute cooked sausage or ground beef.
  • For a vegetarian version of this casserole, omit the bacon and add an extra cup of chopped vegetables.
  • Feel free to experiment with different toppings, such as crumbled crackers, chopped nuts, or shredded cheese.
