ICED SWEET MINT TEA

Iced Sweet Mint Tea image

If you enjoy having a soothing, refreshing glass of iced tea in the summertime, I hope you will try my version of sweet mint tea. I grew up drinking mint tea and still enjoy it so very much today. If you don't care for sugar in your tea, just leave it out, it will still be just as satisfying.

MOROCCAN MINT TEA

Moroccan Mint Tea image

You can barely take a step in the markets of Marrakech without tripping over fresh mint, or at least without being offered a glass of hot, sweet mint tea. Be sure to lift the teapot high above the cup while pouring; Moroccans appreciate the way this aerates the tea (and they always pour with great panache).

Yield Makes 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 tablespoon loose Chinese gunpowder green tea
5 cups boiling water
3 to 4 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
1 large bunch fresh mint (1 ounce)
Special Equipment
a 1- to 1 1/2-quart teapot

Steps:

  • Put tea in teapot and pour in 1 cup boiling water, then swirl gently to warm pot and rinse tea. Strain out and discard water, reserving tea leaves in pot.
  • Add remaining 4 cups boiling water to tea and let steep 2 minutes. Stir in sugar (to taste) and mint sprigs and steep 3 to 4 minutes more. Serve in small heatproof glasses.

Tips:

  • Use fresh mint leaves. Fresh mint leaves will give your tea the best flavor. If you don't have fresh mint leaves, you can use dried mint leaves, but the flavor will be less pronounced.
  • Don't over-steep the tea. Steeping the tea for too long will make it bitter. The ideal steeping time is 3-5 minutes.
  • Sweeten the tea to your liking. This recipe calls for 1/4 cup of sugar, but you can adjust the amount to suit your taste.
  • Serve the tea hot or cold. Sweet minted tea can be enjoyed hot or cold. If you're serving it cold, be sure to chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

Sweet minted tea is a refreshing and flavorful beverage that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be enjoyed hot or cold. So next time you're looking for a delicious and healthy drink, give sweet minted tea a try.
