Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 pound peeled, deveined large shrimp
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 small bell pepper, ribs and seeds removed, cut into thin slices (1 1/4 cups)
1 tablespoon minced garlic (from 2 to 3 cloves)
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger (from a 1-inch piece)
1 cup peeled, chopped fresh pineapple
3 scallions, cut into 1-inch pieces (1 cup)
2/3 cup apricot jam or orange marmalade
3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar, plus more for serving
Cooked white rice, for serving

Steps:

  • Season shrimp with salt and pepper. Heat a large, heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over high; swirl in 2 tablespoons oil. Add shrimp and cook, stirring occasionally, until opaque, 1 to 2 minutes; transfer to a plate. Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil and bell pepper to skillet; cook, stirring, until pepper has softened, about 3 minutes. Add garlic, ginger, pineapple, and scallions; cook 1 minute.
  • Stir jam and vinegar into skillet; bring to a boil and cook until reduced and syrupy, about 1 minute. Return shrimp to pan and toss until coated and heated through, about 1 minute. Season to taste; serve over rice, sprinkled with more vinegar and pepper.

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 box tempura mix
2 lb defrosted cooked shrimp (tail-off)
1 can(s) sweetened condensed milk
water
deep fryer

Steps:

  • 1. Follow instructions on how to make tempura mixture
  • 2. Dip shrimp in tempura mixture and fry in fryer till ready
  • 3. After shrimp is done then fry shrimp in a frying pan with sweetened condensed milk. If condensed milk is too thick and gooey for you, just add a splash or two of milk to thin out the mixture.
  • 4. You can add candied walnuts for a tastey crunch!

Tips:

  • Use large shrimp for this recipe, as they will hold up better to frying.
  • To devein the shrimp, make a shallow cut along the back of the shrimp and remove the dark vein.
  • Make sure the shrimp are completely dry before frying them. This will help them to cook evenly and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
  • Use a light oil, such as vegetable oil or canola oil, for frying the shrimp. This will help to prevent the shrimp from becoming greasy.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying the shrimp. This will cause the shrimp to steam instead of fry and will result in soggy shrimp.
  • Fry the shrimp in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through. This will take about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  • Drain the shrimp on paper towels before serving. This will help to remove any excess oil.

Conclusion:

Sweet fried shrimp is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is sure to impress your friends and family. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give this sweet fried shrimp recipe a try!
