Number Of Ingredients 7

4 pounds chicken wings, cut in half at joint (wing tips removed)
1 teaspoon coarse salt plus more for seasoning
Ground pepper
4 cups pomegranate juice
1/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees, with racks in middle and upper thirds. Arrange chicken wings in a single layer on two rimmed baking sheets; season with salt and pepper. Bake until deep golden brown, crisp, and cooked through, 45 to 50 minutes, flipping chicken and rotating sheets halfway through.
  • Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, combine pomegranate juice, sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil over high and cook until mixture is reduced by three-quarters (it should coat the back of a spoon), 35 to 40 minutes. Stir in chili powder and cayenne pepper (optional).
  • Transfer wings to a large bowl, add pomegranate glaze, and toss until coated. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

3/4 c sugar
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1/3 c vinegar
1/4 c oil
1/4 c ketchup
1/2 tsp garlic salt

Steps:

  • 1. In saucepan combine sugar and cornstarch. Blend well. Add vinegar, oil, ketchup and garlic salt. Stirring constantly , Cook over medium heat til it thickens and is bubbly. After it boils cook 1 min. Pour over chicken (I like wings) and cook in slow cooker apx 4 hours on low.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken wings: Look for wings that are plump and meaty, with no signs of bruising or discoloration. Fresh or frozen chicken wings can be used, but frozen wings should be thawed completely before cooking.
  • Pat the chicken wings dry: This will help the glaze adhere to the wings and prevent them from becoming soggy.
  • Use a combination of seasonings: The recipe provided in the article includes a blend of seasonings that give the wings a delicious flavor. Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your own taste preferences or try different combinations of herbs and spices.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When frying the chicken wings, make sure not to overcrowd the pan. This will help the wings cook evenly and prevent them from steaming instead of frying.
  • Cook the wings until they are crispy and golden brown: The chicken wings should be cooked until they are crispy on the outside and cooked through on the inside. This usually takes about 10-12 minutes per side.
  • Make the glaze ahead of time: The glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for later use. This makes it easy to prepare the wings when you're ready to serve them.

Conclusion:

Sweet and sour glazed chicken wings are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. They are perfect for parties, game days, or any other occasion when you're looking for a crowd-pleasing dish. With the right ingredients and a little bit of preparation, you can make these wings at home that taste just as good as your favorite restaurant.
