SWEDISH SUGAR COOKIES
My favorite cookie of all time! Not too sweet, no frosting. Its an old-fashioned recipe with corn starch to lighten the flour. These are slightly crisp, but still soft ... definitely melt in your mouth!

Steps:
- 1. Sift dry ingredients together, work in butter and shortening with a fork as for pastry. Add egg beaten with vanilla.
- 2. Wrap dough in plastic and let set in refrigerator until firm. (about 20-30 min)
- 3. Roll into balls and flatten on cookie sheet OR .. these make wonderful cut out cookies. My favorite is the reindeer, stars and bells for Christmas. Sprinkle with decorating sugar BEFORE baking.
- 4. Bake each sheet at 350 deg for 10 min. A dark pan will give you nice lightly brown cookies.
Tips:
- For the best flavor, use high-quality butter and cream.
- Make sure your butter and cream are very cold before you start baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape in the oven.
- Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the cookies tough.
- If the dough is too sticky to handle, chill it for 30 minutes before rolling it out.
- Bake the cookies in a preheated oven. This will help them bake evenly.
- Let the cookies cool completely before frosting them. This will help the frosting set properly.
Conclusion:
These Swedish sugar cookies are a delicious and festive treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be decorated with a variety of toppings, such as sprinkles, icing, or chopped nuts. So next time you're in the mood for a sweet treat, give these Swedish sugar cookies a try!
