This classic holiday cookie from Southern Living will melt in your mouth. The extra vanilla amount combines great with the almonds. You can divide the dough and tint in different colors before you shape. They freeze wonderfully, too.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients, especially butter and flour. This will make a big difference in the final flavor and texture of the cookies.
  • Make sure the butter is cold and cut into small pieces before creaming it with the sugar. This will help to create a light and fluffy dough.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the cookies tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out and baking. This will help to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just starting to brown around the edges. Overbaking will make them dry and crumbly.

Conclusion:

Swedish heirloom cookies are a delicious and festive treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make these cookies at home. Just be sure to follow the tips above to ensure that your cookies turn out perfect.
