SWEDISH CREME

This thick and creamy dessert is my interpretation of my mother's recipe for Swedish krem. It has just a hint of almond flavor and looks spectacular with bright red berries on top. Serve it in glasses to match the occasion. -Linda Nilsen, Anoka, Minnesota

SWEDISH CREAM

Swedish Cream image

This is a dish my sister makes for special occasions. It is not too sweet and it's very rich and creamy. If you like a sweeter dish, double the sugar. This makes for a lovely presentation that looks like you went to a lot of effort but didn't.

Tips for Making Swedish Cream with Summer Berries:

  • Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor. If you can't find fresh berries, you can substitute frozen berries that have been thawed and drained.
  • Make sure the heavy cream is very cold before whipping it. This will help it whip up quickly and smoothly.
  • Don't overbeat the whipped cream. If you overbeat it, it will become grainy and lose its light and fluffy texture.
  • Fold the whipped cream into the custard mixture gently. If you mix it too vigorously, you will deflate the whipped cream and the custard will become runny.
  • Chill the Swedish cream for at least 4 hours before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the custard to set.
  • Garnish the Swedish cream with fresh berries and a sprinkle of powdered sugar before serving.

Conclusion:

Swedish cream with summer berries is a delicious and refreshing dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The combination of creamy custard, tart berries, and crunchy cookies is sure to please everyone. So next time you are looking for a special dessert, give Swedish cream with summer berries a try. You won't be disappointed!
