Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups canned chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved (15.5-ounce can)
1/3 cup tahini or sesame paste
4 teaspoons minced garlic (4 cloves)
6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (3 lemons)
8 dashes Tabasco sauce
2 teaspoons kosher salt
Sriracha, to taste
3 tablespoons toasted pine nuts
Good olive oil

Steps:

  • Place the chickpeas, 2 tablespoons of the reserved liquid, the tahini, garlic, lemon juice, Tabasco, and salt in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the steel blade and process until coarsely pureed. SPICY CRUSHED HUMMUS

Time 10m

Yield 4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 tablespoon canola oil
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 jalapeno, finely diced
4 cups canned chickpeas, drained, rinsed and drained again
1/4 cup tahini
3 to 4 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
Juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
Baked lavash chips, for serving

Steps:

  • Heat the canola oil in a small saute pan over medium heat. Cook the garlic and jalapeno until soft, about 2 minutes.
  • Put 3 cups of the chickpeas in a food processor. Add the sauteed garlic and jalapeno, 3 tablespoons olive oil, sesame oil and lemon juice and process until smooth. If too tight, add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add the remaining 1 cup chickpeas to the food processor and pulse a few times; the mixture should be chunky. Sprinkle the top with the smoked paprika and parsley. Serve with lavash chips.

Tips:

  • For the spiciest hummus, use cayenne pepper and crushed red pepper flakes. You can also add a touch of chili powder or paprika for extra heat.
  • If you don't have tahini, you can use peanut butter or almond butter. However, tahini will give the hummus a more authentic flavor.
  • If you want a smoother hummus, peel the chickpeas before you blend them. You can also use a food processor instead of a blender.
  • Hummus is a versatile dish that can be served as a dip, a spread, or a sandwich filling. It's also a great source of protein and fiber.
  • To store hummus, place it in an airtight container and refrigerate it for up to 5 days. You can also freeze hummus for up to 3 months.

Conclusion:

This supremely spicy hummus is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. It's perfect for parties or gatherings, and it's also a great way to use up leftover chickpeas. So next time you're looking for something spicy and satisfying, give this recipe a try!
