SUPER SOFT SUGAR COOKIES

I got this recipe from the teacher I student taught with. These cookies are so amazingly soft. They aren't too sweet, which I prefer. Great holiday staple.

Provided by Brandi Kirkpatrick

Categories     Cookies

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 c butter
2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 c sour cream
2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
5 1/2 c flour

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter and sugar in mixer. Beat in eggs, vanilla, sour cream, soda, salt. Scrape sides and make sure well blended. Add flour a cup at a time, mixing well. Chill 20 minutes.
  • 2. Roll out and cut into shapes. Only roll out dough 3 times, more than that and the dough becomes tough. Bake at 350 for 8-12 minutes until very light brown. Cool completely.

Tips:

  • Use softened butter: This will help the cookies spread evenly and will give them a softer texture.
  • Chill the dough: This will help the cookies hold their shape and will also make them less likely to stick to the pan.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing will make the cookies tough.
  • Use a cookie scoop to drop the dough onto the baking sheet: This will help the cookies be uniform in size and shape.
  • Bake the cookies at a high temperature for a short amount of time: This will help the cookies get a crispy exterior and a soft interior.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before frosting: This will help the frosting set properly.

Conclusion:

These super soft sugar cookies are the perfect treat for any occasion. They're easy to make and can be customized with your favorite frosting and toppings. So next time you're in the mood for a sweet treat, give these cookies a try!
