MARINATED BONELESS CHUCK STEAK

Flavorful and juicy boneless chuck steak with onions and bell pepper.

Provided by kuuzo

Time 3h25m

Yield 3

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 medium onion, sliced
1 medium green bell pepper, sliced
½ cup balsamic vinegar
½ cup olive oil
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup soy sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
12 ounces boneless chuck steak

Steps:

  • Place onion and bell pepper slices in a large resealable plastic bag. Add vinegar, olive oil, Worcestershire, soy sauce, garlic, rosemary, and pepper. Add steak, coat with the marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, or overnight.
  • Remove steak from the marinade and shake off excess. Discard 1/2 of the liquid marinade.
  • Pour the remaining liquid plus the onion and pepper slices into a large frying pan. Cook over high heat for 2 minutes. Move vegetables to the side of the pan and add steak. Reduce heat to medium-high and cook for 4 minutes. Remove vegetables to a plate and flip steak; cook until steak is beginning to firm and is hot and slightly pink in the center, about 3 to 5 more minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) for medium doneness.
  • Drain liquid from the pan. Serve steak with onion and bell pepper.

Tips:

  • Choosing the Right Chuck Steak: Select a chuck steak with good marbling, as this will result in a more tender and flavorful steak.
  • Tenderizing the Meat: To further tenderize the chuck steak, consider using a meat mallet or a fork to create small holes in the steak. This will allow the marinade to penetrate deeper and enhance the flavor.
  • Marinating the Steak: Marinating the chuck steak is a great way to infuse it with flavor and moisture. Use a marinade that contains acidic ingredients like lemon juice or vinegar, as they help break down the connective tissues in the meat.
  • Cooking Method: You can cook the chuck steak using various methods, including grilling, pan-searing, or braising. If grilling or pan-searing, ensure the steak is cooked to your desired doneness, whether medium-rare, medium, or well-done.
  • Resting the Steak: After cooking, let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, chuck steak is a versatile and flavorful cut of beef that can be prepared using various cooking methods. By following these tips, you can cook a delicious and tender chuck steak that will impress your family and friends. Experiment with different marinades and cooking techniques to find the perfect combination that suits your taste preferences. Whether you prefer a juicy grilled steak or a fall-apart braised chuck roast, this affordable and versatile cut offers endless possibilities for culinary exploration. So, grab a chuck steak and embark on a journey of culinary delight!
