Categories     Bean     Side     Steam

Yield 6-8 people

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups green beans, steamed
2 tablespoons oil
1 small onion chopped
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon parsley
1 tablespoon chives
1/8 teaspoon thyme
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
1/2 teaspoon shervil
1/2 teaspoon savory

Steps:

  • Saute onion and garlic in oil. Remove from heat. Add all other ingredients and pour over beans. Notes: Can leave out obscure spices like shervil and savory - still tasty

Tips:

  • Choose young and tender green beans: The younger the green beans, the more tender and flavorful they will be.
  • Trim the green beans properly: Trim the ends of the green beans where the stem was attached. You can also remove the strings from the beans if desired.
  • Blanch the green beans before stir-frying: Blanching helps to preserve the green color of the beans and also helps to reduce the cooking time.
  • Use a hot wok or skillet: A hot wok or skillet will help to sear the green beans and prevent them from becoming soggy.
  • Add the sunflower seeds at the end of cooking: This will help to prevent them from burning.
  • Serve the green beans immediately: Green beans are best served hot and fresh.
