This was my mother's favorite recipe for Sunday-hence the name. It makes an excellent recipe for Sunday dinner, because it can be prepared ahead of time and left to bake while you attend church. The leftovers also freeze well. -Don Harksen, Dothan, Alabama

Tips:

  • Use a good quality chicken. A free-range or organic chicken will have more flavor than a conventionally raised chicken.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you're using a small pan, cook the chicken in batches. Overcrowding the pan will prevent the chicken from cooking evenly.
  • Season the chicken well. Use a variety of seasonings, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. You can also add fresh herbs, such as thyme, rosemary, or sage.
  • Cook the chicken until it is cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Make the dressing ahead of time. This will save you time on the day you're making the casserole.
  • Use a combination of white and dark meat chicken. This will give the casserole a more flavorful and moist texture.
  • Add some vegetables to the casserole. This will make it a more nutritious and flavorful dish.
  • Serve the casserole with a side of gravy or cranberry sauce. This will add a delicious finishing touch to the dish.

Conclusion:

Sunday Chicken and Dressing Casserole is a classic comfort food dish that is perfect for a family meal. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. With a few simple tips, you can make a delicious and memorable casserole that everyone will love. This hearty and flavorful casserole is perfect for a cold winter day.
