SUMMER SIRLOIN

Summer Sirloin image

Tasty mushroom and steak dish. I found this in a 50's cookbook, and have been making it for a long time. Prep time does not include 2 hours marinating time.

Time 20m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 lbs sirloin steaks, 1 1/2 inches thick
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 lb fresh button mushroom
1/2 cup half-and-half or 1/2 cup light cream

Steps:

  • Brush both sides of steak with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper.
  • Place in shallow dish and pour Worcestershire over, rubbing to cover all the meat.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours, then grill.
  • In a large skillet melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add mushrooms, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes until just tender.
  • Stir in half and half or cream.
  • Bring to boiling, immediately reduce heat.
  • Simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  • Keep warm while grilling steak to desired degree of doneness.
  • Serve mushroom sauce with steak.

Tips:

  • Choose the right steak: Look for a sirloin steak that is at least 1 inch thick and has good marbling. This will help ensure that the steak is tender and flavorful.
  • Marinate the steak: Marinating the steak in a flavorful marinade for at least 30 minutes will help tenderize the meat and add flavor.
  • Cook the steak over high heat: Sear the steak over high heat to create a nice crust. This will help lock in the juices and flavor.
  • Let the steak rest: After cooking, let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the steak, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.

Conclusion:

Summer sirloin steak is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a summer cookout. By following these tips, you can cook a perfect sirloin steak every time. Whether you are grilling, pan-frying, or roasting your steak, be sure to use high heat and cook the steak to your desired doneness. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
