SUGARLESS APPLESAUCE

Sugarless Applesauce image

"A friend gave me this delicious recipe 20 years ago, and I've made applesauce this way ever since," informs Margery Bryan of Royal City, Washington. "We grow a lot of apples in this area and have fun putting this crop to good use."

Provided by Taste of Home

Time 55m

Yield 4 cups.

Number Of Ingredients 3

8 cups sliced peeled tart apples
1/2 to 1 can (12 ounces) diet white soda
1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, cook apples, soda and cinnamon until apples are tender, about 45 minutes. Serve warm or cold.

Nutrition Facts :

Tips:

  • Use ripe apples: The riper the apples, the sweeter the applesauce and the more flavor your cake will have.
  • Peel and core the apples: This will help to remove the skin and seeds, which can make the applesauce grainy.
  • Cook the applesauce until it is thick and smooth: This will help to ensure that your cake is moist and flavorful.
  • Use a food processor or blender to puree the applesauce: This will help to create a smooth and consistent texture.
  • Add a little bit of lemon juice to the applesauce: This will help to brighten the flavor and keep the applesauce from browning.
  • Use a combination of all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour: This will help to create a cake that is both light and fluffy.
  • Add a little bit of baking powder to the flour mixture: This will help the cake to rise and be light and fluffy.
  • Use a little bit of butter or oil to grease the cake pan: This will help to prevent the cake from sticking.
  • Bake the cake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes: This will help to ensure that the cake is cooked through and golden brown.
  • Let the cake cool completely before serving: This will help to prevent the cake from falling apart.

Conclusion:

This sugarless applesauce cake is a delicious and healthy way to enjoy a classic dessert. It is made with all-natural ingredients and is sweetened with applesauce, which makes it a great option for people who are looking for a healthier alternative to traditional cakes. The cake is also gluten-free and dairy-free, making it suitable for people with food allergies or intolerances.
