Steps:
- Stir confectioners' sugar, corn syrup, and water together. Stir in food coloring if desired. This glaze must be stirred each time you use it. If it is not stirred before each use it will dry with a mottled look instead of a solid color.

PERFECT SUGAR COOKIE GLAZE
I needed an easy glaze the hardened quickly (instead of over night like so many) but one that still had good flavor. This dries hard enough to stack the cookies. Note: Make one batch at a time. It's unmanageable in anything larger. Children's water color brushes or those used for painting chocolate molds work well. Make sure to put down wax paper or parchment paper on your work surface and prepare for messy kidlets. Originally found at All Recipes

Steps:
- Cookie: Combine the flour, soda and salt and toss together. Set aside. Cream the butter on high until pale yellow, scraping down the bowl frequently. Add the sugar and turn to medium speed. Beat for 2 minutes, until soft and almost white. Add the eggs and vanilla, beat about 30 seconds. Add the flour mixture and mix on low about 30 seconds. Form 2 separate pieces and wrap in waxed paper. Freeze for 20 to 30 minutes. When you're ready to roll the dough, sprinkle surface lightly with flour and sprinkle top of dough lightly as well. Roll out, add flour if you need it to keep it from sticking. Cut out shapes, place on parchment paper on cookie sheets. Bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes or until barely brown on edges. Cool on rack. Icing: Mix all ingredients together. Stir until smooth. Glaze should be thick but soft enough to set.
SUGAR COOKIE GLAZE
This glaze dries hard which makes it great for taking along or showcasing in a pretty glass cookie jar. I make sugar cookies iced with this glaze for every event I can think of, from Christmas to the 4th of July. Once you try it you'll love it.

Steps:
- 1. Stir ingredients together with a fork until smooth, adding water a little at a time. You made need more, you made need less. Less water makes a thicker glaze.
- 2. It starts out as a white glaze but can be easily altered with any food coloring. I prefer using paste food colorings as not to thin the glaze. In the photo I added a few dots of color on a white iced cookie and swirled it with a toothpick. It drags easily.
- 3. So much fun to work with, the possibilities are endless!
Tips:
- To achieve a smooth glaze, sift powdered sugar before use to remove any lumps.
- For a thicker glaze, add more powdered sugar until it reaches your desired consistency.
- To make the glaze thinner, add a small amount of milk or water at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Add flavorings such as vanilla extract, almond extract, or citrus zest to enhance the taste of the glaze.
- If you want a colored glaze, add a drop or two of food coloring until you reach your desired shade.
- When glazing cookies, dip the top of the cookie into the glaze, then gently shake off any excess. Place the cookie on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set completely.
- For a shiny glaze, brush the top of the cookie with a small amount of corn syrup or water after the glaze has set.
- If you want a matte glaze, leave the cookie unglazed.
Conclusion:
Sugar cookie glaze is a delicious and versatile way to decorate and enhance the flavor of your cookies. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a glaze that is smooth, shiny, and full of flavor. Experiment with different flavorings and colors to create your own unique glazes. Whether you are baking for a special occasion or just looking for a sweet treat, sugar cookie glaze is a great option that is sure to please everyone.
