Steps:
- Cook and stir mushrooms in butter for 3 minutes.
- Stir in flour; cook and stir for 1 minute.
- Stir in sour cream, salt and pepper. Heat, stirring occasionally, just until hot.
- Sprinkle with dill weed.
Tips:
- Select the right mushrooms: Choose large, firm, and fresh mushrooms with intact stems. Portobello, cremini, and white button mushrooms are popular choices.
- Clean the mushrooms: Gently wipe the mushrooms with a damp paper towel to remove any dirt or debris. Avoid washing them under running water, as this can make them soggy.
- Remove the stems: Twist the stems off the mushrooms. Save the stems for use in other dishes, such as soups or stir-fries.
- Stuff the mushrooms: Spoon the stuffing mixture into the mushroom caps. Don't overfill them, as the stuffing will expand during cooking.
- Bake or pan-fry the mushrooms: You can bake the stuffed mushrooms in a preheated oven at 375°F for 20-25 minutes, or pan-fry them in a little butter or olive oil over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side.
- Top with sour cream and chives: Before serving, top the stuffed mushrooms with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped chives.
