GRANDMA'S STUFFED CELERY

Grandma's Stuffed Celery image

My grandma always made stuffed celery at Thanksgiving and Christmas. As kids, we were always so hungry before the holiday meal we would sneak and get a piece of celery to curb our appetite. It was nearly all gone by meal time and we always got fussed at with hint of a grin from Grandma. Now I never have holiday meals without it!

Tips:

  • Choose the right celery: Use fresh, crisp celery stalks that are not too thick or too thin. The ideal size for stuffed celery is about 6 inches long and 1 inch in diameter.
  • Clean the celery thoroughly: Wash the celery stalks well under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris. Pat them dry with a paper towel before stuffing.
  • Use a variety of fillings: The possibilities for stuffed celery fillings are endless. You can use classic fillings like cream cheese and walnuts, or get creative with fillings like avocado and bacon, or tuna and cucumber. Be sure to use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Make sure the filling is well-seasoned: Taste the filling before you stuff the celery to make sure it is well-seasoned. You can adjust the seasonings to your liking.
  • Stuff the celery tightly: Use a spoon or your fingers to stuff the celery tightly with the filling. Be careful not to overstuff the celery, as this can make it difficult to eat.
  • Chill the stuffed celery before serving: Once the celery is stuffed, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will help the flavors to meld and the celery to become more crisp.

Conclusion:

Stuffed celery is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. With its endless possibilities for fillings, it is a versatile dish that can be tailored to your own taste. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give stuffed celery a try. You won't be disappointed!
