Categories     main-dish

Time 35m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon hot sauce (recommended: Frank's Red Hot)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 strips bacon, diced
1/2 onion, chopped
1 cup grated sharp Cheddar
4 burger buns
Lettuce, tomato, pickles for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat grill to medium.
  • In a bowl combine beef, garlic, hot sauce, salt and pepper, to taste, being careful not to over mix. Warm a skillet over medium heat and fry bacon until crispy. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Keep heat on skillet and fry a pinch of the beef in the bacon fat to test seasoning. Adjust seasoning, if needed, then form 8 even thin patties, about 1/2-inch thick and set aside. Saute onions in bacon fat in skillet until tender, 5 minutes. Place onions and bacon in a bowl with cheese. Form a spoonful of bacon-cheese mixture into a ball, then place in the center of 4 patties. Top each with another patty and seal the edges. Grill burgers over medium-high heat, flipping once until desired doneness is reached, approximately 4 minutes each side for medium. Serve in buns with garnishes. Alternative: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, sear the burgers 4 minutes on each side.

Grilled Cheese-Stuffed Burgers image

These individually wrapped burgers are great to take along to picnics, cookouts or camping trips. The cheese is already stuffed inside, so all you need are your buns and condiments.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 45m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
4 ounces Cheddar, cut into 16 small cubes
Kosher salt and coarsely ground black pepper
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 seeded hamburger buns, split and toasted
4 small leaves romaine lettuce
4 slices sweet onion, such as Vidalia or Maui
1 small vine-ripened tomato, sliced into 4 rounds
Potato chips or French fries, for serving

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat a grill over high heat. Divide the meat into four 6-ounce balls. Press 4 small cubes of cheese into the center of each ball and flatten into a 1/2-inch-thick patty about 4 inches in diameter, making sure the cheese stays wrapped in the meat. Sprinkle both sides of the patties evenly with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Wrap each burger in a piece of nonstick aluminum foil, twisting any excess foil at each end so the burger is wrapped in a single layer of foil only. Mix the ketchup and Worcestershire together in a small bowl.
  • 2. Grill the burgers for 5 minutes per side. Remove from the grill and carefully open up the foil packets, allowing the steam to escape. Place the opened foil packets back on the grill, add a spoonful of sauce to the top of each patty and continue to cook until the patty is cooked to at least medium to allow the cheese inside to fully melt, another 4 to 6 minutes.
  • 3. On the bottom half of each bun, spread a bit of sauce and top with a lettuce leaf, onion slice and tomato slice. Top with a patty, another spoon of the remaining sauce and the top of the bun. Serve with chips or fries.

Time 35m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 pounds ground beef
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons barbeque sauce
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ pound bacon, cut into 1/4 inch pieces
1 medium onion, finely chopped
¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
6 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together the ground beef, salt, black pepper, barbeque sauce and garlic powder using your hands. Taking a small handful at a time (approximately 1/4 pound), shape into 12 patties. Lay patties out on a cookie sheet and cover with plastic wrap; place patties in the refrigerator.
  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown, about 5 minutes. Remove bacon from skillet with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Turn the heat down to medium and pan fry the onions in the remaining bacon drippings until soft and translucent and just beginning to brown. Mix together onions and bacon in a small bowl.
  • Prepare a grill or large skillet for medium heat.
  • As the grill heats, pull beef patties out of the refrigerator; top 6 of the patties with 1- 1/2 tablespoons of the bacon and onion mixture each, and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Top each with one of the remaining patties and press the edges together to seal.
  • Grill or pan fry the stuffed and sealed patties until cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Serve on hamburger buns with condiments of your choice.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ground beef: The quality of your ground beef will greatly impact the flavor of your burgers. Look for ground beef that is made from fresh, high-quality cuts of meat.
  • Season the ground beef well: Don't be afraid to season your ground beef liberally. A good starting point is to use 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper per pound of ground beef.
  • Mix in some bread crumbs: Bread crumbs help to bind the ground beef together and keep the burgers moist. Use about 1/4 cup of bread crumbs per pound of ground beef.
  • Add some moisture: To help keep the burgers juicy, add some moisture to the ground beef. This can be done by adding an egg, some milk, or some Worcestershire sauce.
  • Form the burgers gently: When forming the burgers, be gentle and avoid overworking the ground beef. Overworking the ground beef will make the burgers tough.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat: Cook the burgers over medium heat so that they have a chance to cook through without burning.
  • Don't flip the burgers too often: Flipping the burgers too often will make them dry. Flip the burgers only once, when they are cooked about halfway through.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving: After cooking the burgers, let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the burgers.

Conclusion:

Stuffed barbecue burgers are a delicious and easy-to-make meal. By following these tips, you can make sure that your stuffed barbecue burgers are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
