PLUM STREUSEL KUCHEN
This recipe is actually called "platz" in German (meaning "flat") and has been in my family since before I was born. The fresh fruits of summer make it a favorite, and it's simply wonderful warm out of the oven. We enjoy this German plum cake with ice cream or whipped cream, too. -Lisa Warkentin, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Tips:
- Choose ripe, in-season fruit: This will ensure that your streuselkuchen is bursting with flavor. If you're using figs, look for ones that are plump and slightly soft. If you're using peaches or plums, make sure they're ripe but not too soft.
- Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing can make the dough tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Chill the dough before rolling it out: This will make it easier to work with and less likely to stick to your hands.
- Use a sharp knife to slice the fruit: This will help prevent the fruit from tearing.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with different fruits: This recipe is a great base for all sorts of variations. Try using apricots, cherries, or berries.
Conclusion:
This streuselkuchen is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that's perfect for any occasion. The combination of sweet fruit and crunchy streusel topping is irresistible. Plus, it's a great way to use up any leftover fruit you have on hand. So next time you're looking for a special dessert, give this streuselkuchen a try. You won't be disappointed!
